Looking for more active LJ friends?
Post about yourself and find new people!
also please spread the word!
It's been a while! I have some awesome friends now and I want to share the wealth, and meet any of your awesome friends!
2) Self-labels / identity: queer, genderfree, trans, intersectional feminist, fat-&-proud, polyamorous (relationship anarchist), demisexual, poor, Southern, nudist, tree-hugger (literally & figuratively), vegetarian, non-neurotypical ADD-PI thinker, eclectic pagan Quaker, and artist.
3) I live with: an amazing human housemate with their sweetheart service dog and my anxious cranky cat.
4) My posts usually fall into the following categories:
--introspective self-examination
--my methods and 'hacks' for intimacy and self-awareness
--society; my ideas on why it is the way it is and how it could change
--meaningful experiences in my everyday life, especially emotionally intense ones
--analyzing relationships in my life
--goals and progress in self-growth
--personal feelings/thoughts about broad topics that have a script most people go by -- like when someone talks about an aspect of parenting which is common which they disagree with
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are:
all of the above categories^ plus
--stories of personal history -- like "this one time when I was 12..."
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: an incompatibility of either communication style or core values. I don't do phone calls or real-time messaging, most of the time, and I don't live near enough to have in-person be my primary way of communicating. I also can't deal with lying or putting expectations on me that I have not agreed to.
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): I aim for once a day and usually miss one or two days a week.
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits: A laptop, a craft table (I know that is a little cheating but I like mixed media the best!), and a bookshelf (with social justice books and sci-fi/fantasy). One outfit would be a floor-length rainbow tiedye skirt with a sleeveless colorful shirt, one would be a short multicolor skirt and bra, and one would be a kneelength full-circle bright colored skirt with a deep-v top in a different color, a sheer patterned colorful overshirt with long sleeves and a collar, and knee-high socks that don't match. There would be one pair of black tennis shoes to be worn with every outfit.
2) Self-labels / identity (gay, straight, old, young, monogamous, non-monogamous, etc): female (cis), hetero(-flexible), monogamous, teacher, big sister, reader (+ some I'll tell you when we've got to know each other better ;-)
3) I live with (roommates, spouse, my children, a tiger, etc): Salem, the cat in my user pic
4) My posts usually fall into the following categories: Most of them are summaries of what happens in my private life and at work, how I feel about things, and what gets me thinking.
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: I love when people share what they really think and feel about certain situations, as well as their ideals and general ideas.
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: I think one aspect is that at this point of life, many things are changing for many people (eg. marriage, childbirth, moving away), and that can make it harder or even mean that people grow apart. So I am trying to expand and stabilize my circle, both online and offline.
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): week.
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits: A spatula, an English book, and a cat would have to come with it. And all the outfits would have to be in strong, matching colors, with matching scarves and jewellery. At least one of the outfits would have to include a lot of teal and turquoise, and one of them would contain some glitter/Swarovski or similar bling. I guess one could be my couch potato outfit: sweatpants, sweatchirt, fluffy socks, and a cardigan for when it's too cold. My blanket would totally be part of that outfit, as well as the cat hair all over it.
1) Age and location: 25, this planet.
2) Self-labels / identity (gay, straight, old, young, monogamous, non-monogamous, etc): Lesbian, socially awkward, day-dreamy.
3) I live with (roommates, spouse, my children, a tiger, etc): Currently I live at home since graduating (but I am trying to find a job so I can move out!!).
4) My posts usually fall into the following categories: My posts are always about my life, happenings and personal experiences.
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: Same as above, posts about real life.
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: Not liking the people I went to university with. Outgrowing my last friend. Another friend abandoning me entirely. My social awkwardness making it difficult (or impossible) to replace them.
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): Every four or five days.
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits: Props: an airplane so I can travel, a laptop so I can geek out, and a dog for company (if that counts in the prop category??). Clothes: Graphic tee, yoga pants, beanie :D Other outfits would include sweatpants and pyjamas haha XD
2) Self-labels / identity: straight cis-gender woman, feminist, socialist, introvert, atheist, graphic designer, 4th generation New Yorker, expat/serial migrant/global citizen

--at the moment, unfortunately, there's a lot of job hunting drama
--extremely occasional political rants
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are:
Anything, as long as it's thought out and written with a sense of purpose.
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been:
Physical distance, more than anything. There are so many different ways to communicate internationally and I'm comfortable with all of them, but it's hard to keep track of everyone else's preferences. Viber, WhatsApp, Skype, email, snail mail, phone calls, Google Hangouts, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, VK. Everyone's constantly checking messages, and things fall through the cracks. I also have a hunch that my generation is uniquely tolerant of flakiness and I often feel like I have much higher expectations for communication and sticking to agreed upon plans than most other people born after 1985.
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc):
Recently I have only been posting once every two weeks or so, but that should become more frequent. I've been on LJ for 14 years without interruption, so I'm not going anywhere.
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits:
Amazing prompt. Props: A laptop with a wacom tablet and pen permanently attached, a bag of gummy candy, and a pot of black tea. Outfits: All black everything, with boots. Light wash jeans with an oversized sweater and a wool scarf, probably with the same boots. Sweatpants covered in dog hair, slippers, and a t-shirt that used to say Starbucks Coffee but has been edited-by-sharpie to read 'fuck off'.
1) Age and location:
28 - from Toronto, Canada.
2) Self-labels / identity (gay, straight, old, young, monogamous, non-monogamous, etc):
Female artist and pyrographer, animal obsessed, atheist, hyper-sensitive witch.
3) I live with (roommates, spouse, my children, a tiger, etc):
My husband Rich, and my kittie Trix!

- I post a lot of my art.
- Random day-to-day thoughts.
- My journey with mental illness.
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are:
Deep thoughts, ideas, opinions, day-to-day stuff... honestly, anything, as long as it's genuine and real.
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been:
Severe Agoraphobia/Anxiety, people kind of falling off of the map, or only really coming around when it's convenient, I suppose.
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc):
Due to moving, I'd been a little slow on posting, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things now that I'm settled. I was a daily poster but I'm currently trying at least weekly.
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits:
PROPS:
- My cat, a paint set, and an iced coffee.
OUTFITS:
- Combat boots, PJ pants and a ratty old band shirt.
- Tights, a giant hoodie and socks that probably don't match.
- Something inevitably stained with paint in some way.
Want to try being friends & see how we get on?
2) Self-labels / identity (gay, straight, old, young, monogamous, non-monogamous, etc): Straight, married, monogamous (exceptions might be made under certain circumstances), atheist, closeted writer
3) I live with (roommates, spouse, my children, a tiger, etc): Husband, adopted daughter, three cats, and my imaginary associates (I don't call them friends because they're not nice to me).
4) My posts usually fall into the following categories: General life, writing, nature posts, cat pictures, other pictures, occasionally both original fic and some fanfic (people are welcome to skip both and I'm really only writing the occasional fanfic for a very small audience).
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: Things that tell me about who you are and what you do and what you think about. Pictures. People who know how to use an lj-cut if they post lots of pictures.
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: Most of my LJ friends have, for various reasons, gone away, and I miss them terribly. Those who have stayed with me are very important to me.
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): It is usually every day or two, although the last few weeks have been busy and I've been distracted.
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits: Definitely a crossbow (I have a thing for archers and I like my crossbow). And a magic pen. And a plush stuffed paramecium, because I have one on my desk and I love it. Outfits... hmm. Jeans, black leather boots, and I suppose some sort of shirt. I have to pick two more? Umm... just clone the first one twice. That'll do.
If you want, stop by my journal, and you can check out the posts that are public (mostly nature posts). My tags list should probably give you an idea of what to expect...
2) Self-labels: Non-binary, demi-pan-romantic, demi-sexual, sub, feminist, polyamorous (though really, it's more like wtfromantic), fat, living with PTSD, activist
3) I live with: My partner, the occasional bug, and some geckos (not intentionally, but it's all cool )
4) My posts usually fall into the following categories: Real life (sometimes some hard or vulnerable stuff, sometimes more everyday), Supernatural, fic, writing, activism, random something that made me laugh, fandom love, this awesome thing from Tumblr, this bad thing that happened
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: I appreciate people who see things in their own special way and write about it, I suppose for me it's lot about clicking with the person
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: one was communicating with a close friend about what each of us wants in our relationship, what defines friendship for each of us, what makes us feel loved or unloved, what we need and want from each other, and kinda figuring out what we mean for each other and how to make this good for us both?
For me casual friendship can be cool, but really I want close people, somewhere that is not romance or family, but no less meaningful.
If you know Supernatural fandom at all - Scratch that - what I want i what J2 seem to have :)
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): It changes, but probably about once a week?
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits: Fuck yes! Um....
Realistic: Laptop, headphones, my fandom necklaces, and then jeans and white undershirt, jeans and gray t-shirt cut for comfort and fit, and that's about it....
unrealistic: it's not a prop, is a someone, but I'd really really love to share this with a dog who'd have me, then-my theoretical vintage motorbike or jet rocket or bi(pan!)-plane, and one of those cheap bic pens that could be u sed to do magic or solve mysteries or something awesome!
M- I'd have really cool black boots, with good traction and archsupport-and buckles and badass stuff! Possibly a good men's cut jeans jacket, or other manly jacket ,and probably just a few fandom tank tops....
Note: I need trigger warnings for some stuff, there's information in a sticky at the top of my journal, but I suppose people who oppose trigger warnings and I won't get to be friends anyways.
(I read your triggers list and will do my best to warn for those things. If I forget, please remind me if you can because I promise it is just that I have a sieve of a memory, not that I don't think it is important. I think most of those things would 'ping' my brain as possibly needing trigger warnings, though, so I think I will remember.)
2) Self-labels / identity (gay, straight, old, young, monogamous, non-monogamous, etc): bi, monogamous, atheist, queer by choice, editor
3) I live with (roommates, spouse, my children, a tiger, etc): a 10-year-old gray tabby cat named Stardust and a 10-year-old red-haired chow mix dog named Boston
4) My posts usually fall into the following categories: squeeing about brand-new boyfriend, at the moment; photos of my garden plants and occasional nature scenery from hikes and such; general description of whatever I've been doing or feeling in my personal life lately; occasional political rants when I discover a new case of someone being wrong on the Internet
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: personal posts about what's going on in people's lives or thoughts and feelings they're having, especially if they're insightful and/or delightful
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: This is going back a bit more than a few years to find an issue, but here's an issue: if people are behaving in ways that I perceive as destructive (including self-destructive), I don't want to be friends with them. I'm picky about friends; I don't tend to care whether I have very many of them at all, but I care a lot that I don't want destructive people around me. I look for quality friends rather than quantity.
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): week
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits: tote with "Queer by Choice" printed on it and a bunch of books inside; laptop computer; garden trowel; two ankle-length circle skirts; two T-shirts that match the color of two pairs of socks and hair ties; two pairs of slip-on men's dress shoes; one running outfit consisting of leggings, knee-length spandex skirt, spandex shirt that again matches the socks and hair tie, and running shoes.

5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: about people's lives & thoughts.
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: Making new friends in new places, while struggling with depression/anxiety which sometimes keeps me home for months at a time (othertimes I'm super socially active)
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): A couple posts a week, I think.

5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: Their lives, feelings, thoughts, theories, philosophy, beliefs.

6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: I am not likely to hew to a tumblr-influenced idea of political correctness. I'm not going to fuss if you do, but if you're going to fuss because I don't, we'll likely not last as friends.

Add?
2) Self-labels / identity: Chris. Hetero male, but supporter of the LGBTQ community. Liberal. Dad to 3 kids. Vegetarian. Musician (guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, but guitar is my passion). Still a punk rocker at heart, despite my soul-sucking corporate job in white-collar management.
3) I live with: A full house! My 3 kids live with me 50% of the time (the other 50% of the time they're with their mom). My girlfriend practically lives with me. She's always here, and keeps a ton of her stuff here, but she will officially be moving in within the next couple months. An almost 22-year-old kid, B, who is like a little brother and a best friend to me also lives with me. I met him when he was 16 and I was working as a "mentor" at a center for kids with substance abuse issues. We really bonded, and I took him in to my home to get him away from a bad home life and help him stay clean/sober. He didn't stand a chance with his home life. So after talking to my then wife about it, I asked him to come live with us. B has been living here for about 5ish years now, and is working on finishing college. B is family now. I also live with a cat named Slurpee.
4) My posts usually fall into the following categories:
- Reflections and analysis of thoughts, feelings, and life events.
- My relationship with my girlfriend (which includes writing about sex sometimes)
- Rants and raves, likes and dislikes, venting posts
- Day-to-day stuff
- My ex and all the drama with her...I'm going through a pretty nasty divorce wih my kids' mom, and she is very bitter.
- My lifelong struggle with addiction. Also mental health topics like depression and anxiety, especially because I'm going through a lot of shit right now. And depression and anxiety go hand-in-hand with addiction. Stress doesn't help either, and I've had an extremely stressful year.
- Elements of my past, and looking back and reflecting.
- Working through mentally/emotionally tough situations
- My kids, but I'm not one of those parents who always just talks about their kids. My LJ is not a journal about my kids' lives; it's about my life. So of course I do talk about them sometimes, because they're the most important things in my life. But I don't talk about them constantly or anything like that.
- Social topics or current events I'm interested in and/or concerned about and have a strong opinion about (I need to do this more, but I've been too preoccupied with my currently hectic life)
- Whatever random shit pops into my head
5) My favorite things to read on my friends list are: All kinds of things. I love talking to my LJ friends and getting to know them. I like reading about people who I can relate to personally. But I also really enjoy reading about people totally different than me, and who lead lifestyles different from my own. I love learning and hearing about other people's ideas, beliefs, opinions, cultural elements, lifestyles, and just their lives in general. I like to engage in conversations--sometimes pretty lengthy ones--and the occasional friendly, civil debate is cool, too.
6) In the past few years the biggest issues for me with friendship have been: In "real life" (offline), I have been neglecting my friends a lot, withdrawing from people while I've been going through rough times. But also, lack of free-time is an issue. On LJ? No problems, really, though some days I wish my friends list would pick up a bit!
7) I post entries on average once every (day, 2 days, week, etc): It depends...sometimes it's a few times a day, sometimes it's a few times a week. I rarely go a week or more without posting. I've had this journal for 11 years, so I'm not going anywhere.
8) If someone made a deluxe action figure based on me, it would have these 3 props and 3 outfits: Haha, this is quite a question! I like it. Props: An electric guitar and amp (I'm counting those as one accessory/prop, because you can't really have one without the other), a pack of cigarettes, and a smartphone. Outfits: A black band t-shirt and jeans with Chucks or Vans. A black zip-up hoodie (if not plain black, then probably a band hoodie) with jeans and Chucks or Vans. And a business suit--formal enough without being too formal.
