Expect to find curse words, nudity, (occasionally explicit) talk of sex, and angry ranting, but NEVER slurs or sexually violent language. I use TW when I am aware of the need and on request.

belenen: (dreamy)
dream (rattlesnake 'baaa's at me, bites my heel, I bite him back!)
I heard a 'baaa' from a shed, so I peeked inside but didn't see anything and started to walk away. Then I heard it again and looked in once more, and realized it was a rattlesnake making a SHEEP noise (snake in sheep's clothing?). I turned to flee (running/flying) but the snake was very fast and bit my heel. Not to be outdone, I performed a feat of amazing flexibility in bringing my mouth next to my heel and biting him right back! (luckily in dream-reality it took a few seconds to get the venom flowing, so he hadn't poisoned me yet) I bit him sideways in a way that forced his jaw open, and after I had freed my heel I pinched his top and bottom jaw together so he couldn't bite me, and considered what to do. I started walking toward the house with the intent to flush him down the toilet (!) when I woke up.

significant: Cobra is my totem, but I have never liked rattlesnakes. dreammoods.com says they represent the passage of time... hmmm.

Damn, you're badass. I noticed you refer to the snake as a him though. i wonder if that means anything. Has a guy done you wrong?
haha! I know! *is badass* :D

I noticed that too -- I really don't know! it could be my dad, cause he has been in my thoughts lately, but he hasn't actually done me wrong lately... hmm.
Intesting dream.
Snakes are my favorite animals and people are always telling me to realize that snakes are always portrayed negatively anywhere they're portrayed. It's upsetting.
I love snakes usually... which makes the dream all the more perplexing.
The Biblical imagery of heel-striking is particularly interesting to me - isn't that in Genesis somewhere? I think so....part of the curse, perhaps, after the Fall?

It's so interesting that a Cobra is your totem. I love finding that out about people. :)
oooooh, very good point! "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; [she] will bruise and tread your head underfoot, and you will lie in wait and bruise [her] heel." Which was the serpents curse, not the woman's! hmmmm... *reflects*

I have several, but the Cobra was a big surprise to me -- I discovered Her when going through theophostic (http://www.theophostic.com/) (a sort of prayer/self-hypnosis/spiritual-sight done by my Christian counselors). I 'saw' my inner selves, and one of them (the most prominent) was a HUGE white cobra (taller than the average man when risen up as in my icon). It was a THRILLING experience! Even more thrilling when I integrated my 'scapegoat' self and my Cobra self got shimmery colors like the surface of a bubble ♥ It's very very sacred to me. (you can check out my 'cobra spirit' tag (http://belenen.livejournal.com/tag/cobra+spirit) if you want to read more)
What an eccentric dream. It's amazing the superpowers/strength/abilities that one possesses in a dream state. What is the dream's significance to you? I know snakes can symbolize many things in dreams, but would love to know your theory.

Snakes:
(here is what I found out about snakes symbolism in dreams, but you may have a more personal and detailed explanation for it's presence)

-a snake signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you
-alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced
-may also be seen as phallic and thus symbolize dangerous and forbidden sexuality
-may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted
-as a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.

Snakes: Rattlesnakes
-to see a rattlesnake in your dream, represents the passage of time.

I really don't know! I haven't had any significant conflict lately, that I can think of... I think it may be about spiritual change I'm undergoing? Perhaps I am changing, and my past (represented by the rattlesnake) will bite or has bitten me, and my spirit is telling me I am more powerful than it? That would be my guess if it were someone else's dream, but it doesn't seem to apply to my life at the moment... I suppose I will mentally file it under 'could be presentiment' and check back later. ;-)
i never knew that the Cobra was your totem (do you have any others? just curious....this kinda stuff is interesting to me). and that's a very interesting dream. for meaning i'd also look at snake symbolism in mythology also, such as wisdom, metamorphosis/transformation, passion, sexuality, etc. as well as modern interpretations of snake symbolism.
yes, my totems (that I know of at this point) are Cobra, Snow Leopard, and Dragonfly ♥

do you have any that you are aware of?
that is so cool. i know some of mine :) mine are Horse, Rat, Butterfly, Scorpion, Vulture (http://blood-4-deniro.livejournal.com/62087.html). and just the other day (Wednesday i think), i had a little red fox just sit in front of me and start to follow me when i walked. it was weird (dont worry, it wasnt foaming or aggressive. i try to take cues from nature and so i've been looking into that a bit.
